About

East Atlanta-based producer Easy Listening Section crafts the sonic backdrop for high-end lifestyle rap.

Immersed in hip-hop since ’93, his work is a masterclass in the art of the loop—weaving obscure, deep-cut samples from forgotten artists into luxurious, atmospheric soundscapes. Drawing inspiration from the cinematic grit of Harry Fraud and The Alchemist, he builds spacious, smooth tracks that give lyricists the ultimate room to breathe and storytell. While operating primarily as a background fixture of Atlanta’s underground beat community, Easy Listening Section steps into the light as a member of the Sidechain Society, bringing his curated, sample-heavy aesthetic to live audiences through sets at Controllerise.

The world

Easy Listening Section makes Lifestyle rap — unobtrusive, background/lounge music with an easy going vibe. If a spotlight was put on it, you would see primary and secondary colors, but in the low light the vibrance of those colors is muted.

The music leans melancholy on purpose. Sadness is one of the more honest and relatable emotions, and the songs say what doesn’t get said out loud. Honesty is paramount. Logic ranks supreme.

How the beats get made

  • I don’t have a plan when I make music.
  • If I’ve heard someone else previously use a sample, then I probably wouldn’t use the sample no matter how dope I think it is.
  • I name my beats based on the date I started/save the track.
